Missed Mixtapes #13 – Blogariddims 48

NTS Radio’s Dominic Roarty delves deep to find the mixtapes you jus shouldn’t miss…

So I chose one from Blogariddims before, but I think that it is such a good series that I can share another one with you.
This mixtape is from Woebot and is a collection of some interesting and thoughtful jazz, spanning a number of decades. This is the mix that introduced me to Yusef Lateef, Roy Ayers and Andrew Hill as a jazz philistine five years ago.
Made in 2008, Woebot said, at the time, that jazz was a genre that no one gave a shit about.
Since then, a number of successful contemporary musicians like Laura Mvula and Robert Glasper have been open about their jazz influences and some old guys from the past like Gregory Porter and Bobby Womack have made new records, spurring a renewed interest.
