Mike’s Monday #Playlist – 9.06.14

XWHY’s Mike curates the pick of the musical crop to soundtrack your Monday morning.

Seekae hail from downunder, Sydney to be precise and they’re all about the synthy, melodic electronica, perfect for a blamy summer evening. We especially like their slightly broken beat pattern in ‘Void’. The xylophone percussion that creeps two thirds of the way through is sweetly magical. See it through.

Ellinor Olovsdotter, otherwise known as Elliphant, is another of those alt Scandinavians¬†with a high-register, quirky tone. Think Bjork meets Robyn, but with a bit more attitude…and less swans and weirdness.

Breen – young, funky (are we allowed to say that again now?) and going places. ‘Say What You Want’ is a cross-genre grower. We’ve seen ’em live and we reckon, with a bit of time, the whole outfit could be really slick.

Void – Seekae

Down On Life – Elliphant

Hearbreak Dream – Betty Who

We Are Floating – Archie Bronson Outfit

In Her Arms – Foxes

Say What You Want – Breen

I Can’t Keep Up – Tourist (Will Heard)

Muizenberg – John Wizards

Never – Koreless

Greatest Lovers – Luke Sital-Singh
