Mike’s Monday #Playlist – 5.5.14

Mike curates the best of new and recent music, to start your week the right way…

Swedish crooner Lykki Li is one of those odd, slightly squawky singers you can’t figure out if you actually like or not. This latest LP has been dubbed “power ballads for the broken” – which sounds about as fun as slitting your wrists.

BUT ‘No Rest For The Wicked’ is good. The stomping bassline and A$Ap Rocky’s verse change the concept of the tune altogether.

Percussive hip-hoppy tracks are always a good shout – we don’t know a whole lot about Boy in a Movie, but we know we like this track.

RDGLDGRN were only formed in 2011, but they’ve already worked with luminaries like Pharrell Williams and Dave Grohl. With a break out song called ‘I Love Lamp’ they were obviously on to a winner from the get go.

Snakehips ‘On and On’ – it’s an oldie but a goodie – keeping you swirling around in a smoke filled room until the early hours.
