Mike’s Monday Music Playlist 6/4/15 (Bank Holiday Special)

XWHY’S MIKE CURATES THE PICK OF THE MUSICAL CROP TO SOUNDTRACK YOUR MONDAY MORNING.

After an extra long weekend celebrating death of JC, visiting senile relatives in the countryside and eating your body weight in chocolate I bet you are all filled with a special kind of work dread today. So we will attempt to acknowledge this feeling and alleviate it if possible through the medium of music. We’ve even thrown in a couple of extra tracks as your probably not planning on venturing far from your house today, so grab a set of headphones and prepare for a mellow monday music playlist.

Barney Artist  has recently been announced on the Glastonbury long list and toured with the formidable George the Poet, so his pedigree is evident. His unique style of jazzy Hip Hop on”Space” will have you sporting an earnest pout and furrowed brow as you lose yourself in the moment.

It’s a colaboration that I just couldn’t have fathomeduntil it became a reaity. With Ed Sheeran and Sam Smith making waves on the other side of the Atlantic it’s almost as if we’d all forgotten about the likes of Jessie Ware. Ms Ware features on the Nicki Minaj track “The Crying Game” and delivers her typically flawless vocals.  For those of you who aren’t “Barbz” hopefully the draw of our English rose will be enough for you to at least give it a try.

The Casady sisters are better known by the name of CocoRosie and although not new, are certainly new to us. The folk vocals mixed with the lo-fi production create a haunting, yet heartfelt effect.
