Mike’s Monday Morning #Playlist – 7.10.13
Mike is back to synthy wonderment this week – save for a brief interlude courtesy of Jake Bugg and the Arctic Monkeys. But other than this little nod to Northen indie crooners, Mike’s definitely in a dreamy, sultry state of mind. Let’s have a little look at this week’s picks…
Hot Natured and Bondax, obvious choices for this sort of mellow, quixotic vibe. Both double acts – Jamie Jones and Lee Foss of Hot Natured and Adam Kaye and George Townsend of Bondax – do very similar things, just on different sides of the pond. The Bondax guys are the more “feel good” of the two pairs, but both have committed themselves to packaging melodious house music into songs easily digestible by the general public.
Who expected to see Kate Nash fall into this category though? Honestly, the IMOL (otherwise known as William Bowerman, who has played drums for La Roux and Marina & the Diamonds) remix is delightful and quite a departure from the opinion-splitting Nash tracks that we would all recognise.
MØ – trust a Scandinavian to be quite cool and completely infuriating at the same time. Electro pop of the Grimes school of thought, but frustratingly difficult to google.
