Mike’s Monday Morning #Playlist – 4.11.13
Your Monday Morning Spotify and Soundcloud playlist from XWHY’s Michael Thomas.
It’s time to wake the f*** up and get on with all the stuff you’ve been putting off for weeks. This week’s playlist from XWHY’s Mikey-T is upbeat and full of exciting artists, new and old.
Giving Monday a kick-start, we lead in with Trim – a grime MC from the Isle of Dogs, former member of Roll Deep – ‘Oh No’, from his album Wrap.
Keeping with the darker, serious vibe, we move on to Dan Le Sac vs Scroobius Pip, a hip-hop techno duo from Essex. The track ‘Nightbus Sleepers’ hails from their latest (and third) album: Repent Replenish Repeat. After a bit of a hiatus, during which time they each worked on some interesting solo projects, it’s great to see the pair joining forces once again.
Findlay (a.k.a. Natalie) is a Mancunian vixen, as potty-mouthed as she is beguiling. Her BLOG is full of weird, dark and deeply sexual imagery and her music is a kind of weird, shouty Yeah-Yeah-Yeahs-come-Peaches synthesis.
Forget the Arctic Monkeys’ comeback attempt – if you’re in the market for Northerners with guitars, it’s Blackpool band Darlia that are causing a storm.
And finally, a bonus track for the rap lovers out there, Mike’s stuck Eminem’s ‘Rap God’ on the end just for you. The track hits its peak at around the 4.20 mark.
