Mike’s Monday Morning #Playlist – 20.01.14

We’re quite excited by young bass producer Skelecta. He goes by several aliases but in this guise, he’s had support from some big players. The track that we’ve opened with this week, you might have heard on B. Traits’ Radio 1 show (he made her Tips for 2013 list) or Seb Chew’s on Rinse FM, will start your Monday off with some serious intention.

Justin Martin can do no wrong in our eyes really. ‘Don’t Go’ still echoes round the XWHY halls fairly frequently, so it’s no surprise we’re feeling this Eats Everything re-collaboration. Featherlight house slips quickly into a sliding bass rip. Get some.

Ella Eyre….Big, raspy, soulful vocals from such a wee person. Forget her Rudimental pair-up for a moment – this track is actually far more interesting in structure, and the Friend Within remix has transformed it into a solid dancefloor filler.

Sliding a bit further down the playlist, and into a distant genre, we’ve got Wake Owl’s first release from their The Private World of Paradise LP, ‘Candy’. A vibrant, atmospheric tinkering with guitars and falsetto.

Listen carefully to the intro of Panama’s ‘How We Feel’… Isn’t it delightfully reminiscent of the opening of ‘House’ by Kindness…? Another lovely track at any rate.
