Mike’s Monday Morning #Playlist – 17.02.14

Mike’s Monday Spotify and Soundcloud playlist… start your week right.

MNEK is pretty much the man of the moment. The 19 year old, yes you heard that right, it makes us feel a little ill too, singer, songwriter producer has already sung lead vocals on big tunes for Rudimental and Sub Focus and his collaboration with Gorgon City has been stuck at the top of the charts for a while. This MNEK refix is a low-tempo, subby version which leaves his vocals intact (obv).

Swedish hip-hop-pop group Little Dragon are back with single ‘Klapp Klapp’, which premiered this week. All the identifiable LD sounds are there – including the trademark falsetto of striking singer Yukimi Nagano.

We’ve been keeping an eye on Daley. He’s sung with Gorillaz, on ‘Doncamatic’, Wretch 32 on ‘Long Way Home’ and….er…Jessie J on ‘Remember Me’. Apparently, his Days and Nights LP, from which Mike has chosen this single, is produced by Pharrell. So, the boy’s been getting around.

The rest of Mike’s playlist is all in the middle range – beats and brawn enough to have you moving in your chair, but not thumping enough to get you dancing on your desk…probably a good thing if you’re planning on doing any work today.
