Lyle & Scott 140
A little bit of history as the brand hits a new mile stone…
For a lot of our generation, Lyle & Scott and its golden eagle only really landed in our consciousness when Steve Jones popped up on T4 wearing their jumpers in a plethora of different colours. Whether that’s an advert or not, we haven’t really decided.
However, long before SJ was even a twinkle in his father’s eyes, stars like Ronnie Corbett were sporting the look.
With stalwarts of British entertainment sporting the brand over the years, it is hard to forget the heritage of the brand, but it came as a surprise even to me that, this April, Lyle and Scott would be celebrating its 140th Anniversary.
In honour of this massive milestone, Lyle & Scott will be launching their anniversary collection early in the coming month. It will feature 11 British-made pieces, all featuring the original ‘L&S Ltd’ logo, used in 1874.
The collection’s colour palette will be of a more sober spectrum than that of many of their modern pieces – ink black and berry red will dominate.
The collection can be found online at the recently relaunched Lyleandscott.com or at the Lyle & Scott flagship store in Covent Garden.
