Cowlin Presents: joebei
Following on from my Cowlin Presents article series which consists of interviewing some of the greatest DJs around the world who I believe are making an impact on the underground music scene. As this has grown massively in just over a year, I’ve decided to start a new project, releasing articles on musicians for when they have something special happening in their career which deserves exposure.
Kicking things off with an artist who I’ve known for numerous of years now, as part of group Moda Soul with pal Charley Tucker, Jobe has recently started a solo project under the name of ‘joebei’. joebei is an outlet for music that is both minimal and fragrant. Taking influence from Jazz & Breakbeat amongst forms of House/Techno to create music thats laced with natural groove.
Whilst studying Digital Music at University, joebei was resident of long time British club institution Junk. Its here that the love for stripped back grooves took shape. Carving out sets regularly and playing alongside some prolific DJs in the process joebei was able to take notes from the best and organically evolve into what it is today.
Recently starting the new solo project, joebei has decided to give away a freebie for new listeners to show them what he’s going to be up to in the future.
